Open Badminton Tournament in Odesa
On November 10, 2024, the open cup of the Odesa regional organization of FST «Ukraine» took place in the sports hall of the Comprehensive Children and Youth Sports School No. 5.
The competition honored the memory of the prominent Odesa sports figure – Honored Worker of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine Mykola Barabash.
This tournament, held in Odesa for the second time, became a true sports celebration for young badminton fans.
A total of 22 participants competed.
The tournament was conducted in the «mixed» category: a mixed pair consisting of a boy and a girl.
The winners and prizewinners among juniors were:
1st place - Mykola Cherniyenko / Veronika Simova;
2nd place - Lev Talpa / Daria Popova;
3rd place - Mykola Tsvetus / Anastasia Savitska.
Among the boys, the standings were as follows:
1st place - Pavlo Vasilioglo / Daria Boris;
2nd place - Tymofiy Hlushin / Vladyslava Kymlyk;
3rd place - Serhiy Mukhin / Olena Morozova.
The athletes were trained by coaches Volodymyr Bilous, Daria Sibiryakova, and Valeriy Karpov.
Additional Information
Mykola Martynovych Barabash - an outstanding specialist in physical culture and sports, who has mentored many athletes representing our country at both domestic and international competitions.
Mykola Barabash served as Vice President of the Badminton Federation of Ukraine, was a member of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, and led the Odesa regional organization of the Physical Culture and Sports Society «Ukraine» for 30 years.
His organizational talent was recognized with awards from the European and World Badminton Federations.
A master of sports in archery and badminton, an honored coach of Ukraine, an international referee, and a distinguished worker of physical culture and sports in Ukraine.
