Odessa Schools to Resume In-Person Classes

Students in Odessa will be able to return to in-person classes starting Monday, April 14, if classroom temperatures exceed 17 degrees Celsius. Each school makes this decision independently.

This was announced by Olena Buinevych, the head of the city’s education department, on April 13.

Class teachers are required to inform parents about the situation in their schools.

“Today, all schools will check the temperatures. If it is above +17°C, we will return to in-person classes. School directors and teachers are just as interested in resuming in-person education as parents and students are. The end of last week confirmed the necessity of remote learning, so we are acting in accordance with health regulations,” Buinevych stated.

It is worth noting that due to a sudden drop in temperature, schools in Odessa switched to remote learning on April 8, which sparked outrage among parents who believe that children should attend school.
