Cancer Screening Campaign in Odesa: Findings and Advice

Last week, healthcare facilities in Odesa conducted a preventive cancer screening campaign through blood tests. This event was organized with the support of the Odesa City Council's Department of Health and the Odesa City Health Center.

On this day, anyone interested could freely check their hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) at the laboratories of primary health care centers and diagnostic consultation centers, either through self-referral or electronic referrals.

As a result of the event, 815 individuals approached clinical diagnostic laboratories for cancer screening. A total of 235 cases of abnormal ESR were identified: 226 with elevated levels and 9 with reduced levels. Additionally, 214 patients showed deviations in hemoglobin levels: 165 below normal and 49 above normal. These indicators are crucial for early detection of changes potentially associated with cancer diseases.

All patients with identified deviations are advised to consult their family doctor for more detailed examinations to rule out oncological pathologies.
