International Rehabilitation Forum in Odesa: New Horizons for Veterans

On September 18, 2025, the international forum «Bionic Forum: Ukraine’s Rehabilitation & Reforms» was inaugurated by the mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov.

Representatives from the Ukrainian Parliament, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Veterans Affairs, healthcare institutions, and NGOs participated in the event.

The forum brought together experts from various countries and regions of Ukraine, who discussed state policies, international experiences, and cutting-edge rehabilitation technologies, including exoskeletons and bionic implants, as well as psychological rehabilitation aspects.

Gennadiy Trukhanov noted that the forum serves as a platform for real change, as prosthetics impact the integration of individuals with disabilities into the social fabric of Ukraine. Odesa has all the prerequisites to become a rehabilitation hub.

The local government is actively working on developing the veteran rehabilitation system. Modern rehabilitation departments are operational in hospitals, and psychological support is offered through medical centers.

Currently, the establishment of a Southern Ukrainian Rehabilitation Center is underway in Odesa, combining medical aid, educational programs, and adaptive sports.

Adaptive sports methods are actively involved in veteran rehabilitation. Recently, a team from Odesa returned triumphantly from the Venetian regatta, representing Ukraine.

The «Bionic Forum: Ukraine’s Rehabilitation & Reforms» will be a strategic platform for developing the national rehabilitation system and implementing innovative solutions.
