New Accessibility Features in Odessa's Tram System
Another tram has been upgraded in Odessa, now featuring a unique lift designed for individuals with disabilities.
"Odesmiestkelectrotrans" has completed the modernization of a «Tatra» tram that will soon be operating on city routes.
The updated tram boasts a state-of-the-art lift developed by local experts, which greatly improves accessibility for passengers with limited mobility. These lifts were showcased to an Odessa delegation at the InnoTrans 2024 international transport exhibition in Berlin. The mayor of Odessa highlighted this as a successful example of international collaboration.
The design has undergone technical testing and received positive feedback from ambassadors of the «Movement Without Barriers» initiative. The company has now applied for a patent on this innovation.
«We are not just modernizing transport; we are creating comfort and accessibility for every resident. Such projects have become standard in Odessa, but I am well aware of the immense effort behind each achievement,» said the mayor of Odessa.
The upgraded tram is ready to hit the routes, while specialists are working on further enhancements.
