Beach Inspections in Odessa: Ensuring Accessibility Standards
In Odessa, inspections of rented beach areas are underway to ensure compliance with operational rules, cleanliness, and open access for all citizens.
Following the mayor's directive, a working group has been formed, consisting of representatives from the city authorities, the Barrier-Free Council, and veterans.
The group's primary goal is to assess the level of accessibility, inclusivity, and free access to the beaches.
On August 22, the group inspected the beaches of the Kyiv district. The members checked whether 30% of the rented area is allocated for public use; whether there are illegal fences or structures obstructing access; whether hygiene standards are maintained; whether facilities for persons with disabilities are in place; and whether free passage along the waterline and between beach sections is ensured.
During the inspection, violations were found, including the placement of sun loungers by the water obstructing passage and illegal temporary structures on the promenades. Renters were issued orders for immediate rectification of the identified issues.
Based on the inspection results, consolidated proposals will be prepared to improve beach accessibility for the upcoming recreational season.
