New Registry for Land Contaminated by Explosive Hazards
In December, a Registry for areas that are contaminated or potentially contaminated by explosive hazards will start operating, as stated by Ihor Klymenko in an interview with «United News».
During a discussion with reporters in Cherkasy, amid the operations of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Minister noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, the service has cleared over 250,000 hectares of land in our country, removing and destroying 790,000 explosive devices.
Klymenko emphasized that specialists are making every effort to ensure that the Registry begins its operations and is accessible to legal entities starting in 2026. After testing, access will also be granted to individuals who have ownership rights to specific plots of land.
Additionally, while near the training site for divers and sapper units, the Minister revealed plans to increase the personnel of this unit to 500 individuals, which is a crucial component of the demining ecosystem:
«The demining ecosystem can be divided into several levels: the Office of Mine Action, the Center for Humanitarian Demining, certification of specialists, and underwater demining. This system is already established and operational,» Klymenko stated.
