Launch of New Agro-Project in Odesa Region
A significant meeting was held in the Odesa region with CIHEAM program manager, Mr. Luigi Cavestro.
The main agenda was the discussion of the launch of the project «Program for Supporting the Economic Recovery of Ukraine's Agrifood Sector. Pro.UKR», which will be implemented in the Odesa region with the support of AICS and CIHEAM.
The project was developed by the Italian side in collaboration with experts from the Odesa region and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine and will cover the Berezivsky, Rozdilnyansky, and Odesa districts.
The primary goal of the project is to support small and medium agribusinesses, enhance the competitiveness of Ukrainian agrifood products in international markets, provide technological support, and improve quality in line with European standards, as well as develop livestock farming. The project also aims to assist in developing irrigation systems in the Odesa region.
The core idea of the project is training and creating cooperatives for the processing of agricultural products from small enterprises, as well as establishing stable connections between Ukrainian and Italian markets.
Within the framework of the joint project, CIHEAM plans to invest over 9 million euros into the agribusiness of Odesa region.
It is worth noting that the Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, signed an agreement with CIHEAM to launch this project at the end of March.
The «Pro.UKR» project is part of broader efforts by Italy to support the recovery of Ukraine and the Odesa region, aimed at promoting the economic and social stability of the country under current challenging conditions.
