New Legislative Proposals for Mobilization and Martial Law in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced new legislative proposals concerning the extension of martial law and general mobilization in the country for an additional 90 days. If approved by the Parliament, these measures will remain in effect until August 6, 2025.

The bills numbered 13172 and 13173 have already been registered on the Parliament's website.

Extension of Martial Law and Mobilization in Ukraine

As of the morning of April 15, both documents have been forwarded to the relevant committee of the Parliament on national security issues. In the texts, the President suggests confirming the respective decrees for the extension of martial law and mobilization for a 90-day period.

According to the likely text of the bill regarding the extension of general mobilization (No. 13173), this law is expected to take effect from May 9, 2025, following its announcement through media outlets.

The bill concerning the extension of martial law (No. 13172) is projected to come into force “from the day of its publication” after being approved by the Parliament and signed by the President.

What is known about the continuation of mobilization and martial law in Ukraine

On February 5, the President signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until May 9, 2025.

On November 6, Zelensky also signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until February 7, 2025.

Previously, the Parliament adopted a law approving the President's decree for the extension of martial law in Ukraine starting from November 10 for a period of 90 days.
