Collective Blood Donation Efforts Amid War

During the ongoing conflict, the need for blood donations remains critical for civilians, while the demand for blood transfusions for military personnel and war victims significantly increases.

This week, a collective blood donation event was organized in Odessa by the project "Donor Odessa" in partnership with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Odesa-Simferopol. The initiative received the blessing of Bishop Stanislav Shyrokoradyuk, an Honorary Blood Donor.

“Donating blood is an act of Christian mercy and unconditional love for our neighbors. We must assist those in need, especially those who have shed their blood protecting us,” said Bishop Stanislav.

The blood collection was held at the office of the Roman Catholic Church, facilitated by a mobile team from the Odesa Regional Blood Transfusion Station. Around fifteen parishioners and church ministers participated in the donation. One donation can save up to three lives.

Previously, the Jewish community of Odessa, "Chabad Shomrei Shabbos," joined the project "Donor Odessa" with the support of the Chief Rabbi of Odessa and Southern Ukraine, Abraham Wolf.

Since the onset of the full-scale war, the project "Donor Odessa" has effectively coordinated existing blood donors and engaged new ones. To date, over 13,000 blood donations have been made through the project, saving thousands of lives.

The project "Donor Odessa" is also actively involved in the charity initiative "Weeks of Good Deeds."
