Awareness Campaign for European Anti-Human Trafficking Day in Odesa
An awareness campaign took place in Odesa in honor of European Anti-Human Trafficking Day.
Every year on October 18, European countries celebrate European Anti-Human Trafficking Day. This initiative was launched by the European Commission in 2007 to highlight the issues of modern slavery and the importance of protecting victims' rights.
In the context of ongoing war in Ukraine, the fight against human trafficking becomes particularly significant. The conflict has created new threats — an increase in internally displaced persons, unemployment, loss of documents, forced relocation, and captivity.
Ahead of the celebration of European Anti-Human Trafficking Day, the Odesa City Department of Labor and Social Policy organized an awareness campaign to draw attention to the issue of human trafficking in wartime and to raise public awareness about the risks of exploitation and methods of protection.
Experts from the Odesa City Social Services Center, representatives of non-governmental organizations working in this area, and students from the Odesa State University of Internal Affairs participated in the campaign. During the event, informational brochures were distributed and consultations were provided.
Everyone can contribute to the fight against human trafficking — by being vigilant, not remaining indifferent, and sharing accurate information about this issue.
