Revitalization of Heroes' Tribune Square in Odesa
Starting from August 9, 2024, extensive renovation works on Heroes' Tribune Square (Tolbukhin) began in Odesa.
The large-scale project was carried out in phases and involved repairs to the roadway, external lighting, and tram tracks.
According to Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, new modern trams have arrived in the city, and thus it was necessary to repair certain sections of the old tracks to ensure their safe passage.
The renovation at Heroes' Tribune Square has been completed ahead of schedule. The upgrade of the rail tracks and resurfacing has significantly increased the traffic capacity of vehicles around the square.
Additionally, traffic lights have been adjusted based on preliminary traffic analysis.
Moreover, the area has undergone beautification efforts - new road markings were applied and the lighting upgraded to more efficient and economical options. Consequently, movement during the night has become safer, and tram operations are now smoother and quieter.
